| |  |  | | Features and advantages - Rope brake | | | | | |   | | The BODE rope brake is a type tested safety component according to EN 81. It is used for braking and shutting down the lift system when upward overspeed is reached. The BODE rope brake features the following advantages:
- Easy to install and therefore ideal for retrofitting existing systems:
- No dismantling of ropes is necessary.
- Can be installed optionally on the cage side or counterweight side.
- Due to the large stroke of the brake blocks, can also be used with offset carrying ropes.
- No modifications of the cage and rails necessary.
- SB 200 and SB 330 for rope speeds of 10m/s.
- The rope brake is maintenance-free. No adjustment necessary, even when the brake linings are worn.
- Automatic check of brake system every 24 hours.
- Easy and safe rescue of passengers.
- No other safety components must be replaced in order to operate the rope brake (e.g. speed limiter).
- Consistent braking force over the entire stroke of the rope brake.
- Low wear during braking.
- No strain on guide rails.
- Functionality ensured even on lubricated ropes.
- Cage is protected even if carrying ropes slip over the pulley.
- Extra functions:
- Stoppage monitoring when cage is not in motion.
- Cage is secured at stops by closing the rope brake at the floors.
- Rope brake is closed upon overload in connection with a load weighing system.
